Top Baptist Churches in the U.S
Origin of Baptist Churches in U.S
The beginning of the Baptist Church in America can be traced to the days of the Puritans. Roger Williams is believed to have founded the first Baptist church in 1639 after he had disagreed on certain doctrines like the baptism of young children. Williams founded this church in Province, Rhode Island. Meanwhile, John Clarke also set up a Baptist church in NewPort Rhode Island. The Baptist churches continued to work together until a dispute emerged over the idea of the position of allowing slave owners as Missionaries in the Baptist church this caused a split in the Baptist church leading to the formation of the Southern Baptist church.
To date, the Baptist church has continued to grow with a number of African American joining and it has become the second biggest faith in U.S with lots of churches around the country.

The Baptist church of Providence, Rhode Island: This was the first Baptist church set up in America by Roger Williams. The current church house was erected between 1774 and 1775. This church is popular firstly because of its historical background in the Baptist faith but also for its slightly relaxed signage. It is known for having humorous signage like one saying, “What would Scooby – do?” the people who attend service are not just Baptists, but even people visiting Rhode Island and would like to have an experience attending church in a national Landmark.
New Spring Community Church Anderson: This church has the biggest following of Southern Baptists. It is known for its strict doctrines in line with the bible. Every week the church has over 30 thousand people attending services and thousands more attending online and on different television broadcasts. It is one of the fastes growing churches considering that it was formed in January 2000 and already has such a following. It has at times been the subject of controversy over the sermons of one of its pastors who recently said he was misled by a teacher in Israel.

The Future of the Baptist Church
The Baptist church continues to grow and it is possible that even more churches will make it to the list of top Baptist churches. It is however important to note that the Baptists are divided into the Southern and General Baptists so there might be disputes over which really is the top as each denomination wishes to be recognized as being top.
