Salvation And A Sacrifice
At some point in our lives we realize we are in need of a change. And often these changes go deeper than a change of jobs, or a change of address or even a change of attitude. Often we realize that we need a change that involves our spiritually lives. Maybe you have discovered that there is a deeper meaning to life and are interested in pursuing one that is more fulfilling, more meaningful. In this case, you should allow Jesus Christ to save you. Though many people may think that this is a long and hard process it’s really simple and only requires a small sacrifice–your life.
3 Steps To A Brand New Life
One of the first steps in becoming saved is to repent. And this simply means that you apologize for all of the wrong that you have done in your life. As with any relationship, if you do something to offend someone, you say that you are sorry for doing that to them–that you were wrong and that you want them to forgive you for what you have done. If you’ll notice, this takes sincerity and requires that you truly mean what you’re saying. Your relationship with God is very similar. You may have done things that He hates, but He’s waiting on your sincere apology. God not only wants an apology from you, but he wants you to mean it.He died for the sins that you have committed and is ready and waiting for you to repent so that He can forgive you and forget every wrong that you have done. Hebrews 8:12 says “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”
Reading God’s Word
Now that you have offered a sincere apology, the next step to becoming saved is to read the bible, God’s word. What does someone do when they want to get to know someone better? They study them. They find out everything they can about them. What do they like? What are their disliked? What makes them angry? What makes them sad? What type of standards do they have? The same applies to the word of God. The only way you will get to know God is to read the bible. It describes the way He thinks. It describes what He likes. It lets us know what He hates. It shows us what His standards are. The goal is to be like Christ. And you can be like Him if you know Him. Just by simply reading the word of God, you’re becoming a brand new person because it serves as a guideline to living the life God wants you to live. Psalm 119: 105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Obeying God’s Word
After you have apologized and have started to read God’s word, you are now responsible for following God’s instruction. What good is a lamp if we don’t use it to guide us? James 2:17 says, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.” which means what good is your faith if you don’t practice it? In order to be saved you have to practice your faith. It’s not enough to believe that the word of God is true, you have to actually obey it.
As you can see, being saved is not as difficult as people would believe. All it takes is true repentance, reading God’s word and following His instructions. As you become more familiar with God’s word, you will understand more and more why becoming saved was the best decision you’ve ever made in your whole life. God is ready and willing to forgive you. Just take the first step.
